How to Fix WordPress 404 Permalink Error on Localhost

  1. Go to your servers httpd.conf file and open it up with notepad or any text editor (not MS word!).
  2. Now press ctrl+F to open up the search function and search for this line # LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so and remove the # before the line.
  3. Restart the server.

    I’ve found that the # already removed on this line,

    and its not working

      Right click on wamp icon then on apache menu you should see the config link. Click it and it will open the configuration file. Another quick method is go to the wamp directory and on windows search bar write “httpd.conf” windows will find the file for you.

    the file doesnt contain this line: # LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite

    In Wamp, click on the icon in taskbar, go to Apache > Apache Modules, and enable rewrite module.
